09 Nov 18 Stephenville to Receive Texas Music Friendly Community Certification

On Tuesday, November 13,The Texas Music Office within the Office of the Governor will certify Stephenville as the sixth city to receive the TMO’s Music Friendly Community certification at a celebration ceremony from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Twisted J. The public is invited to attend this free event. Performing that evening will be Pearl Street Combo, with an open jam following the ceremony featuring other local musicians.

08 Nov 18 BMI Opening Office in Austin

The new office, expected to open in early 2019, will allow BMI to work directly with the talented songwriters, composers, publishers and emerging songwriters and artists in the thriving Austin music community and help enhance their ability to earn a living by writing music. The BMI office is being opened with the support of Governor Abbott and the Texas Music Office and Entrepreneur Gary Keller, co-founder of the Austin Music Movement, who is signing on as a key sponsor of BMI’s Texas music initiatives.

10 Oct 18 Concert Benefits Texas Music License Plate Grant Fund

Since it began in 2004, the Texas Music Office’s License Plate Grant Program has contributed more than $132,000 to music education opportunities across the state via sales of its Texas Music license plate for cars and motorcycles. The TMO aims to expand its outreach concerning how license plate sales contribute to the grant fund with events like the one Anheuser-Busch hosted at Floore’s Country Store in Helotes, TX; Anheuser-Busch covered all costs for the concert allowing Texas musicians Josh Abbott and Rob Baird to perform free-of-charge to the public.
