Austin radio station KVET is hosting a free Texas music series for country music fans.

The event takes place at Hill’s Cafe on South Congress in the heart of the live music scene in Austin.  The series features free concerts from well-known country bands on Hill’s outdoor backyard stage. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the music begins with opening acts at 6:30 p.m. Headliners take the stage at 8 p.m., and the concerts are broadcast live on KVET 98.1 for the first hour of the headliner’s show.

Tonight’s show is a special 50th birthday party for Radney Foster and will feature Radney Foster & Friends, including Pat Green, Roger Creager, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen and more. Opening the show will be Modern Day Drifters.

Shows are all-ages and are scheduled through September, though bands haven’t been announced for most upcoming shows. To get information on shows as they are announced, check the KVET page for the series or the MySpace page set up for the series.
