Austin roots-rock band Reckless Kelly’s 3rd Celebrity Softball Jam — which will feature a hectic and hilarious game of softball played by musicians, professional athletes and members of the media followed by an exciting concert on two stages in centerfield — is set for May 1, 2011. This year, fans are encouraged to participate in the “Reckless Recycling Program” and bring new, outgrown and gently used baseball gloves, bats, shoes, catcher’s equipment and other baseball-related items, which will be collected at the gate of the Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express, and donated to youth players and leagues in need. Reckless Kelly has already donated more than $65,000 it raised from the first two Celebrity Softball Jams, attended by more than 12,000 fans, with proceeds going to benefit area youth baseball groups.
