What better way to spend a holiday weekend and kick off the summer than being outdoors with great food, fun art and free music by some of the best musical artists Texas has to offer? That’s exactly the plan for the third annual Downtown Arlington Center Stage Music Festival May 23-25 at the Levitt Pavilion. The music gets underway at 7 p.m. Friday, May 23, when popular duo, The O’s, return to the Levitt stage with their “good music for good people,” folksy sound. They open for a true Texas original, Austin’s singer/songwriter Bob Schneider at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, May 24, the opening line-up includes Barrett Baber, 2014 winner of the CBS Grammy Gig of a Lifetime, who performs at 5:30 p.m. followed by the folk/rock sound of Luke Wade & No Civilians at 7 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., the Levitt welcomes Grammy-winning blues guitar legend, Jimmie Vaughan. Cody Canada & the Departed bring their Texas-hot sound to the stage at 8:30 p.m. Along with free music, there will be a variety of food trucks in addition to Levitt regulars, J. Gilligan’s and MountainTop Sno. Art vendors also will be on hand with items that range from photography to hand-crafted jewelry. The Downtown Arlington Center Stage Music Festival is free with free parking available in parking lots all around the Levitt Pavilion, which is located at 100 W. Abram St. at the corner of Abram and Center streets. Participants should bring lawn chairs or blankets for the open lawn seating. Picnics and coolers also are allowed, but no glass containers, please. The festival is sponsored by Downtown Arlington Management Corp., Everything Energy, FW Weekly and Moya Art Events and made possible by grants from the Arlington Cultural Tourism Council and the Texas Commission on the Arts.
