As I was driving today, trying to figure out how I was going to get everything done that I needed to do, I realized that I am in the midst of a two-week string of near constant – and diverse – musical experiences.

It began last Saturday night, as several of the TMJ team drove to Fort Worth to hear Teri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines. I had never seen this talented pair before. It was very enjoyable. Then Monday night, I participated in the Black Prairie Band’s weekly rehearsal. We are preparing for a fundraising appearance at Fair Park in Dallas on the morning of April 18th. Wednesday night, again three TMJers went to Cadillac Pizza in McKinney, to listen to the Colton O’Neill Band. O’Neill is a 17-year-old rocking blues guitarist, who has gained more talent in six years than I will have in my lifetime! We will have a detailed story on him in the coming days.

Last night, Friday, was very busy. First, my wife and I were exposed to a huge amount of young, local talent, as we attended John Paul II’s performance of the musical Footloose, in Plano. It’s been a long time since I have seen that much potential under one roof. We left there and joined the rest of our team at House of Blues in downtown Dallas, where we were treated to another great performance from the Eli Young Band. We will publish excerpts from an interview that Mike Eli gave us following the sellout gig.

Tonight, we head to the Plano Symphony and hear the young artist competition winners. Tomorrow night, we will attend a thank you performance from Ryan Michael Galloway, chairman of the Collin County Songwriters Association. Ryan is a good friend, who wants to thank everyone for their support during his family’s recent ills.

Monday, I head to Nashville for the annual Tin Pan South performances, and the Nashville Songwriters Association’s Spring Training for songwriters. Among the people I will see will be Ray Stevens. It promises to be a fun week.

See, I told you this is a period of diverse music. Check in during the next several days for stories on many of these performances.
