Rising star and motivational speaker Billy Dawson was honored by his hometown of Sunray, TX at his high school’s homecoming pep rally Friday. Sunray ISD named Dawson’s song “Brought Up To Bring It” the official homecoming theme of 2012. Dawson sp
ke to the students and the Sunray community and presented them with a very special message from NFL Tennessee Titan’s kicker Rob Bironas.
“I’m so excited to be honored by my hometown,” says Dawson. “It feels so great to have the approval of the folks that poured into me as a child and motivated me to chase my dream. It was also exciting to have a special message from one of my best friends and best kickers in the NFL, Titans’ Rob Bironas.”
“Billy Dawson is someone who strives to do his best at everything he does,” praises Rob Bironas. “Over the past few years he’s become more than a friend, he’s become a brother of mine in every sense of the word. He pushes to be the best man he can be and backed with his strong Christian faith he has successfully excelled at making a positive impact in other’s lives, including mine,” continues Bironas. “He’s a role model for kids all over. As Billy would say, he was brought up to bring it!”
“Brought Up To Bring It,” available for download on Itunes, is Dawson’s new high energy football song that has been taking the nation by storm. In addition to his high school naming it their homecoming theme, all level football teams (pro, high school and college) around the country are blasting it for motivation.
Billy Dawson, originally from Sunray, TX, a small town North of Amarillo, recently released his sophomore album, Acoustic Sessions Vol 1 and Vol 2, to Itunes. His new football song, “Brought Up To Bring It,” is spreading like wildfire and getting exposure from teams such
as the Tennessee Titans all the way down to the high school level all around the country.
Dawson is the author of You Never Know, the first book in a series of children’s books against bullying, racism and other issues kids deal with on a daily basis. Dawson has a passion for youngsters and he speaks with them about these issues and the importance of respect in everyday life.
Dawson was the winner of the 2010 “Get Discovered” (iHeart Radio) National Competition and performed on the Jerry Lewis Telethon live from Las Vegas. He has shared the stage and played shows with the likes of Lady Antebellum, OneRepublic, John Hiatt, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, Skillet, Five for Fighting, Charlie Louvin, Gretchen Wilson, Darryl Worley, Cross Canadian Ragweed and many others.
Dawson donated a portion of the proceeds from his cd sales at the homecoming festivities to the Sunray ISD cheerleaders.
