Texas Music magazine publisher and Viva Big Bend founder Stewart Ramser, a partner in the new label, says the label will focus on Texas artists, just as the quarterly magazine he launched in 2000 has done for 13 years.

“I’m continually inspired by the amazing amount of talent in this great state,” Ramser says. “With Big Bend Records, we can foster these artists and give new and established musicians the attention they deserve.”

Big Bend Records is one element of the new Texas Music partnership created by Ramser, Austin Signal recording studio owner/producer Jon Niess and former publisher and media consultant Julian Lowin. The label and partnership provide Texas artists with unique opportunities to develop and promote their work by tapping the resources of a top-quality analog/digital recording studio; an award-winning, respected music publication; branded events such as Viva Big Bend and the magazine’s annual Reader Appreciation Party; and multimedia design, sales and content management experts. The partnership’s involvement in event planning and promotion, tour sponsorship and custom project development provides multiple platforms on which to build and enhance artist, audience and brand relationships throughout Texas.

Big Bend Records’ already-growing roster includes indie rockers the Reynolds Number, folk-Americana artist Breting Engel, folk-pop singer-songwriter Emile Millar and jazz/country/folk/funk fusion band Ghosts Along the Brazos. The Reynolds Number will release its Niess-produced Big Bend Records debut on Sept. 17; Engel’s Brian Standefer-produced album will be released on Sept. 24; Millar’s Standefer-produced EP will bow on Oct. 15; and Ghosts will release their Guy Forsyth-produced EP on July 30.
